Amedeo Vergani (Grass, October 29, 1944 - Merone, 1 May 2010) began to collaborate with the newspaper La Provincia di Como since still in high school classic. After The school was hired as a reporter and in 1968 became responsible for the newly established Lecco editorial of the newspaper. Become a professional journalist in 1971, became editor in charge of crime in the province of Como, and the Corriere della Sera correspondent of Corriere del Ticino Corriere and Information. In this same period also date the first photo reportage and current affairs and cooperation with the Center Iconographic De Agostini Novara.
Since the late '70s Vergani activity was directed towards the visual journalism, becoming one of the greatest photojournalists of the time. He worked for some of the main Italian and international like Atlas, Period, Week End, Capital, Bell'Italia Bell'Europa, Geo, Geo Saison, Merian, Heron, Atlas, Focus, Stern, Nature today. He won many awards, provided images for books and illustrated books including the well-known Ägypten, Alps, and Giobbian Majestuese Italie, his photos were exhibited at the XLVI International Art Exhibition in Venice in 1995, the Triennale in Milan, the Guggenheim Venice, the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris and many others.
At his work paralleled that of trade union within the National Federation of the Italian Press, where he held roles of the institutions until his death, he was executive director and the Group of Journalists visual information (GSGIV) and member of the commission contract and adviser of the Association of Journalists Lombarda. Among other things created, within the FNSI, along with other colleagues in a center analysis and documentation of information about issues of journalism (LSDI). His last fight was for a minimum fee for the recognition of equal dignity of the journalist.
an illness stopped him on the night of May 1, 2010 while resting at his home in Merone.
